Ellen Gillard appointed as new research coordinator at RITCS.

  • News

After an extensive selection process, the jury appointed Ellen Gillard as research coordinator as of 1 October. She takes over the torch from Klaas Tindemans, who is retiring.

The selection committee was convinced by Ellen Gillard’s vision on artistic research. With her experience in education, artistic research environments, and a broad network in both the artistic and academic worlds, Ellen Gillard brings valuable expertise. Her leadership and collaboration with the Kunstenplatform Brussel, RITCS, KCB, EHB, and VUB will be crucial for the development of the research policy.

"I believe in the power of artistic research to not only create new artistic work, but also generate insights that contribute to broader social discussions. In this way, research can have an impact on both the arts sector and society. For me, Brussels is a dynamic place of inspiration and collaboration, where our research can take root in urban realities. I see it as my task to strengthen the research environment of the RITCS and make the results of our research more visible,” says Ellen Gillard.

Director Reinhilde Weyns, who is also chairwoman of the selection committee, looks forward with confidence to the new collaboration with Ellen Gillard: 'With her authentic motivation and commitment, Ellen will play an important role in stimulating and further developing research within RITCS. As an advocate of artistic research and a bridge-builder, her approach inspires great confidence for the future. We look forward to her inspiring contribution'.
