Technical theatre

The Performing Arts program prepares you for a career in the broad performing arts sector. Do you dream of working with artists to make the impossible come true? Then this professional bachelor's program - unique in Flanders - is definitely for you.

at a glance Alumni subjects and admission test

Do you want to play an important role in shaping artistic creations and bridge the gap between artistic vision and technical-organizational execution? As a stage technician, you translate and contribute to artistic concepts. You actively participate in the creative process and develop your own and complementary (artistic) propositions. You receive a broad training in the technical aspects and organization of projects in the performing arts. Your affinity determines the depth you choose.

Starting in the second year, you have two tracks to choose from:

- A "medium" course;
- A "production" course.

The "medium" track focuses on technical and artistic understanding in a specific medium (light, video, audio). The "production" track is more focused on leadership and quality control of creative projects. Practical experience and internships in the field are essential in the program. This allows you to apply theory directly in practice. The scenography track runs over the three years and connects the different practices. In the performing arts, technique, organization and creation are rarely separate. We encourage co-creation with Drama students for shared practical experiences.

All our classes are in Dutch.

Alumni

Podiumtechnieken Alumni

More than 80% of the alumni of the theatre program remain active in the performing arts sector. They advance to leading positions within theater houses and (their own) companies but are also active in the media, audiovisual or visual sector. Our alumni are special because of this individuality and the social commitment of their work. Technical and production (managerial) profiles are also currently a bottleneck profession in the sector, giving technical theatre students immediate job security.
